Version 3.0 Released

Version 3.0 is now available in the Apple App Store. This is the third major release and is by far the most stable version to date. Several new UI enhancements and smoother interaction. Currently Facedekk is on sale for $0.99!

Version 2.6 Released

Version 2.6 has been submitted to the Apple App Store and is in review. It should not be long before it is available for download.

This new version has several bug fixes in it that eliminate the reported crashes. It also adds the ability to manage Photo Albums for pages and groups you admin as well as post and comment to pages and groups you admin (as the page or group). You can also now post links (with thumbnail options) from both iPad and iPhone. Check-in (Places) is functionality is also now included in the app.

We are working on including the ability to ‘like’ pages and add friends. Facebook has not made this functionality available yet in their API. We are trying to make this app a purely native iPhone application rather than a “pseudo” application that sits on top of the mobile Facebook website. With the exception of Mail and Places we have been able to accomplish that very well. Mail on the iPhone uses the Facebook “touch” site and mail on the iPad uses the Facebook full website (trimmed a bit). Places also uses the touch site because of the limited “Check-in” capability in the Facebook API.

As Facebook adds features to the API we will implement them in Facedekk™ in native iPhone fashion.

Updates

We have an update we are working to get out to you VERY soon. It includes bug fixes for posting errors and crashes that have been reported. Some time ago Facebook made a change that broke mail on the web system I was using to create new mail messages. This issue was not exclusive to Facedekk™. It also broke their own mobile website. I reported this issue to them repeatedly with nothing more of a response than “Thank younger contacting us. If you need help with our SDK please consult our developer forums”. Tired of being ignored and missing functionality in Facedekk™ I found a new way to create mail messages. Mail once again is fully functional in Facedekk™.

There are several other new pieces of functionality we will report on when we release to the iTunes store. We expect this to happen fairly soon so stay tuned!

In the wake of the lawsuits against Apple and several iOS application developers, we felt it important to ensure our users that Facedekk™ does not collect, store, request, use, share or in anyway utilize or disseminate our users’ private, personal or identifying information. We also state the same with regard to our users’ unique device identifiers and location.

Facelift

A great deal of time has been spent working on the User Interface for this next version. The driving factor being consistency and dependability. It’s come along nicely and we think you will be happy with the end product.

Chat still has some work to be done before it will be ready for release. We want it to be rock solid when it goes out and it has a few performance issues at the moment. Namely long wait times when opening the chat roster for accounts with many (a few thousand) friends. We’ll get it sped up before release.

Chat is planned to be included in the upcoming release of Facedekk. It’s coming along nicely with presence information being updated automatically in the list of friends displaying property status of available and away as appropriate. Working on the messaging aspect of chat now and determining the best way to navigate around chat sessions for both the iPhone and iPad.
